This Pratincole was a real challenge to identify at the time. DNA did the job, and the bird was finally accepted by the Swedish RBC some years after the discovery of the bird.
The bird was seen at Ängsnäset, Falsterbo, Skåne from July 2nd until October 6th 2001.
The bird was filmed by Timo Samanen on July 3rd and August 21st.

This bird was found on May 31st 2008 at Torhamns udde, Blekinge. It was singing at this place until June 7th, and it was even ringed. It was filmed by Timo Samanenon June 1st 2008.

This bird was found by Daniel Green on April 29th 2014 at Sörsalbo, Västmanland, finally Sweden got this species as well.
On April 27th the bird left Germany at Grüner Brink, Fehmarn in company with 9 Common Cranes heading +/- north towards Lolland, but was not seen in Denmark.
This first for sweden was filmed by Johan Södercrantz on April 29th and by Timo Samanen.

Timo Samanen went back to the Caspian Plover to get better video of the bird on March 29th.
It was first found on March 25th 2014 at Sandasjön S Hörningsholm, and it is a First record in Sweden.

This bird was found at Sandasjön S Hörningsholm on March 25th 2014 by Kenneth Welin, Per Erik and Susanne Pershagen. It is the first record of Caspian Plover in Sweden. It seems to be identical to the bird seen March 24th at Pori in West Finland only 343 km. to the east, according to Petteri Mäkelä who saw the bird in Finland.

A true mega, found and filmed by Hans Larsson at Stenshuvud, Scania on October 27th. The bird were found at 11.11 AM and flew south 13.48 PM, and it was only seen by approximately 60 birders.

White-rumped Swift is a rare visitor in nortern Europe.
Only one record in the UK, a bird was seen only a few minutes on September 16th 2007 at Cresswell Pond, Northumberland.
In Finland a bird was seen at Kestilä on November 18th 1968.
In Norway there are tow records of three birds, the first was a bird seen at Jomfruland May 18th 1984 and two birds were seen at Lervik June 15th 1986.

This 2cy bird was found by Mikael Karlsson and Joakim Karlsson on April 26th 2004, and it was seen until April 28th, at Sällstorp, Varberg & Balgö, Halland. It was filmed by Timo Samanen on April 27th 2004.

This bird was found by Nils Kjellén at Nabben, Falsterbo, Skåne on August 11th 2000, and it was seen until August 18th.


After the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper at Örtofta Södra Sockerbruksdammarna, Skåne in the morning Lasse Strandgaard and I, drove against Falsterbo. At noon we heard the big news, a Zitting Cisticola at Falsterbo, we saw it, and saw most of Swedish birdes arrive in panic. On August 13th we saw a Egyptian Vulture at Falsterbo, truly a great weekend in Skåne! /Rasmus Strack.

This adult male was a first for Sweden, it was found at Greda vik, Föra s:n, Öland, on June 14th 2003 and was seen until June 21st.
In 2006 apparently the same bird was seen at Fyrvägen, Ottenby, Öland, from June 27th until June 30th.

This bird was found by local Kalmar-birder Tomas Fredriksson at Kalmar flygplats, Småland on June 30th and was seen until July 1st 2005.
Tomas believed that it was a Red-footed Falcon (Falco vespertinus), he didn't see the underwing coverts. Some local-birders was out to get a nice year-tick, but didn't see the bird until Andreas Ståhl came and saw a falcon, he made the ID and the bird was out on the birdcall system at 18.15.
The next morning the bird flew north at 10am.

This bird was found on May 19th 2002 by Tommy Löfgren at Marma skjutfält, Älvkarleby, Uppland. It were in the area until June 27th and it was filmed by Magnus Corell on June 8th 2002.

Göran Magnusson found this beautiful male in his garden in the evening of May 18th 2013, when he just went home from a birding-trip to Ottenby, Öland. The first evening he didn't see the bird well enough to make a good ID, but the next day he again saw the bird and this time there was no doubt!
It was seen at Kungshall, Rydaholms kyrka, Småland on May 18th and 19th 2013, but it might still be in the area.
It was filmed by Calle Ljungberg on May 19th.

Only other record in the nordic countries, is a bird seen in Finland May 1st 1996.

"MOVEMENTS - Pattern very complex. Some southern populations mainly sedentary, but others partially migratory. Populations in north-west Africa both migratory and nomadic. Eastern populations show more regular migratory behaviour, in some areas moving further north for successive breeding attempts. Winters in Spain, North Africa, Middle East, central Asia, northern Pakistan, and north-west India."

This bird was seen at Hovs hallar - Mellbystrand, Skåne/Halland on May 19th 2001 and it was seen aigen the next day. It was filmed by Magnus Unger at Kattvik on May 19th.

This Chimney Swift was a Scandinavian first, it was found at Gårdby, Öland on November 6th 1999. The bird was seen aigen November 7th, 12th and 13th. It was filmed by Magnus Unger on November 7th.

This Cliff Swallow was found by Björn Klevemark at Bläsinge hamn, Öland on November 15th. 2012. First video was made by Ulrik Wallberg on November 17th. and Emil Lundahl made the next on the same day. The bird was killed by a Eurasian Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus on November 20th at 08.33 CET.

This adult Great Knot was seen at Bondängen and Sandrevlarna, Ottenby, Öland on August 2nd. to 3rd. 2005. This was a true Mega was a new Scandinavian bird, and once again it was at Øland!
