Common Yellowthroat

Common Yellowthroat

Geothlypis trichas

This bird a 2cy male, was seen at Rhiwderyn, Gwent in Wales from Febuary 16th until at least March 31st 2012.
The first video was made by Jason Coppock and the second by Mark Hipkin.
This was the 15th European record, UK 10, Iceland 3, Ireland 1 and Portugal 1.

Mark Hipkin says
"Those Gwent boys can't half find them on their local patches. Whosever patch this is, well done! The bird proved very tricky to see most of the time but that made it all the so much better when it gave itself up. The dull conditions from the day made everyone appreciate what a stunning bird it is and deserving of its Mega status. I don't go on many twitches so I don't really know a badly behaved crowd from a well behaved one but I spent 3 hours waiting and watching this bird and it never gave me the impression it was stressed out by the gathering. One thing is for certain everyone who managed to see it left very happy indeed. Myself included."
