Sooty Tern

Onychoprion fuscatus

This bird was found on July 8th 2005 at The Skerries, Anglesey, Wales, and it was seen here until July 10th. It was possible to charter fishing boats to the skerries. On July 11th - 12th the bird was seen at Rockabill, Dublin, Ireland.
For the best part of two months in late summer  and early autum the bird tantalised birders on both sides of the Irish Sea.
On July 18th it appeared on Cemlyn Bay, Anglesey, and was ssen here until at least July 26th, and it was here Andrew McCafferty filmed the bird!
It was last seen passing Strumble Head,Pembrokeshire, Wales on August 23rd.
